Question - Does “Compact Strobe Stick Kit” include the umbrella?

Big Boy Bar supports 4 strobes, right? Can you provide a wedding kit with 4 strobes, 4 trigger receivers included?

admin - Add $350. I can make a special invoice for you just contact me.

Brook - As an educator I love your teaching approach. After watching a little of your creative live workshop, I actually started to understand lighting so much better. I plan on watching upcoming workshop and hope to be able to order it for the discount price. I have been saving up and would like to order a complete lighting set before then, so that I can play along. I have a much better comprehension when I can get my hands on and do it as I am learning it.

I want to make sure that I have everything that I need so my questions are:
1) The wedding kit says “Compact Strobe Stick Kit”, does that mean that includes the umbrella?
2) The Tiny Trigger Set includes your “Master Lighting Guide”, when ordered separately, Does the Wedding kit also include this guide?
3) Does the Big Boy Bar that is included in the kit have the umbrella attachment, or just the 4 strobe screw attachments?

I will probably ad the Gel kit to my order as well, but is there anything else that you would recommend as a must have for my startup light kit?

Thanks again for great education and understanding of the new photographers limited budget. I really wish that I could find a mentor like you in Michigan.

admin - 1. No it does not include the umbrella
2. Yes, I believe it does come with it, if not I’d gladly make sure you get the download
3. Yes the umbrella mount is included with the Big Boy Bar.

Gel kit or Quickie would be a great addition, an extra flash may be helpful too with the Triple Mount for outdoor, bright light session.

Anne - Hi Scott, I have been watching you on Creative Live and already purchased Crazy, Stupid Lighting course. What would I need flash wise to photograph an entire bridal party outside in full sun, say with the sun at their backs? Is there enough power with multiple flashes to do that? and how many would I need and how far do you place the flashes from the group if trying to get some background too? Are 4 flashes grouped together equivalent to say 600 watts power? Thanks, Anne

Tim - The set includes two transmitters. Wouldn’t it be more useful if it included one transmitter and one receiver because is it necessary to have two transmitters?

October 31, 2014 - 3:03 am

admin - the Strobie 230 has a built in receiver so need for one.

October 31, 2014 - 3:05 am

admin - well, you can probably get away with two flashes in a side and get the flashes less than 6 feet from group. make sense?

April 16, 2015 - 8:37 am

Brook - Why are there 2 transmitters?

John - Is there a way to create a custom kit with no video light and 3 flashes?

Peggy Wilkie - Can the strobe stick come with a tripod bottom so I don’t have to use an assistant?

Becca - Hi there! I’m a wedding photographer that uses all natural light currently. I am going to be switching to full time wedding photography and really need to up my game.

I’m wondering if this system will work with a Mark III. I’m also wondering if there’s any kind of battery pack available for this, since I’m assuming everything runs through batteries quickly. Thanks!

Nesh - Hello Scott, I have just recently got a hold of your Creative Live workshop on How to be a 10k wedding photographer and this has honestly blown my mind off. I am a enthusiast and an entrepreneur from a software development background (as you can see my website link). I am almost an amature with photography but I am a fast leaner and intend to get into the wedding photography business here in Fiji. I totally loved your workshop lessons and would be very grateful if you could couch me up with your advise on what gears I need to spend on etc. If I buy this wedding package that you have here on this page, would you be able to ship to Fiji Islands, if so what would be the shipping rates etc. Waiting for your kind reply…

admin - Yes, we can ship internationally!! Thanks for all your support!

January 1, 2016 - 2:25 pm

admin - Yes, it will work with your system. Battery is not necessarily a big deal. Just bring an extra set of AA batteries or two.

January 1, 2016 - 2:26 pm

admin - No, you should get a low cost stand on Amazon if you want to stand it up on its own.

January 1, 2016 - 2:26 pm

admin - sure, just message me at

Greg Colvin - I watched the Crazy Stupid Lighting course on Creative Live and I’ve used some of the tips I learned there to get the most out of the used equipment I’ve cobbled together but it’s time to upgrade. If I order tomorrow, when might this arrive so I can tell my next client, whose shoot is paying for this upgrade?
